First haircut in 3 years! 🎉
We did it! After years of hair cutting being impossible, we worked with an understanding stylist who let him sit on my lap, wear noise-canceling headphones, and take breaks. It took 45 minutes for a 5-minute haircut, but it happened!
Meltdown recovery box
We created a 'calm down kit' that lives in our living room. Contains: fidgets, lavender scented playdough, weighted lap pad, favorite snacks in sensory-friendly packaging, picture cards for emotions. Having everything ready means we can respond faster.
Our morning routine breakthrough
After months of difficult mornings, we finally found what works for us. Visual timers + a special morning playlist = much calmer transitions. The key was letting him have control over pressing the timer button. Small wins, big impact.
School refusing to accommodate sensory needs
My daughter's school keeps saying her sensory breaks are 'disruptive.' She needs them to regulate. Has anyone dealt with this? Looking for advice on how to advocate for her needs without being labeled as 'difficult.'
